Macworld San Francisco 2005 show floorThe mood on the show floor here at Macworld Expo is very positive. It's nice to attend a show where the exhibitors are upbeat and sincerely excited about the stuff they're selling.

There's an interesting mix of big name hardware and software vendors, audio and video companies, and smaller, start-up and shareware vendors. The big growth this year seems to be in products related to the iPod. The accessories market is booming.

Apart from the Apple products, the coolest gadget I saw today was a multi-room digital music system by Sonos, which uses a remote control with an iPod-like scroll wheel to control the streaming of MP3 files to one or more "ZonePlayer" devices. The interface was nice, the sound was good, and my techno-lust was raging.

Griffin Technology is showing a SmartDeck - a "smart" cassette adapter that also serves as a remote control for your iPod.

Meanwhile, the folks at IOGEAR are pretty happy about the new Mac mini. They anticipate increased demand for products like their USB micro KVM switch, which makes it easy to use a single display, keyboard and mouse with two computers (PC or Mac).
